Broadband Elastomer Absorbers

ABS-MLE / MLSE

ABS-MLE is a polyurethane elastomeric absorber with a standard thickness of 1mm but also 0,5mm and 2mm can be supplied. Although the material is highly magnetically loaded the material remains flexible and easy to apply in the application. It concerns a broadband microwave absorber for a variety of applications typically used in resonating cavities but also effective to suppress surface currents. As the material is also effective in free space it will reduce reflections from metal structures, this means the material has also a good reflectivity level.

ABS-MLSE is the silicone version of ABS-MLE, the silicone version is typically used on space applications where low outgassing is required. The silicone version also withstand high temperature which is applicable on high power applications, also the silicone is more impervious to outdoor weather conditions, we recommend to use the silicone material for outdoor exposure applications.

Applications

  • suppress surface currents on metal surfaces and inside cavities
  • improve reflection from metal surfaces
  • isolation of microwave waveguide cavities in amplifiers and radio’s
  • improvement of patch antenna patterns
  • microwave converters
  • Antennas and RF modules in space applications

ABS-LFE /LFSE

ABS-LFE is a polyurethane elastomeric absorber with a standard thickness of 0,5mm and 1mm. With its specific magnetic filler system the material is developed for the lower frequency range, typically from 800 MHz up to 12 GHz. Although the material is highly magnetically loaded the material remains flexible and easy to apply in the application.

ABS-MLSE is the silicone version and is typically used on space applications where low outgassing is required. The silicone version also withstands high temperature on high power applications.Typical frequency of operation is 4 GHz and above.

Applications

  • Improve reflection from metal surfaces
  • Isolation of microwave waveguide cavities in amplifiers and radio’s
  • Improvement of patch antenna patterns
  • Antennas and RF modules in space applications
  • Antennas and RF modules in space applications

ABS-FLE /FLSE

ABS-FLE is a polyurethane elastomeric absorber available in different thicknesses, typically 1, 2 and 3mm. This absorber material is specifically designed for use at the lower frequency range typically between 1 GHz up to 12 GHz. The high magnetic loading allows the material to be used in many applications, free space reflections, cavity resonance but also surface current suppression.

ABS-FLSE is the silicone version which is typically used on space applications where low outgassing is required. The silicone version has higher operating temperature. Also as the silicone is more impervious to outdoor weather conditions, we recommend to use the silicone material for outdoor exposure applications

Applications

  • Aircraft ILS antenna
  • Reduce reflections from metal structures
  • Satcom systems
  • Microwave housings

ABS-NSA

ABS-NSA is a flexible nitrile rubber based flat sheet absorber material. This absorber is produced based on a nitrile rubber therefore it is a very durable material with excellent weathering characteristics. The nitrile rubber is resistant to many chemical fluids such as hydraulic oil, lubrication oil and kerosene. Due to its good mechanical properties the material is mainly used in harsh environment such as naval applications. ABS-NSA is a broadband absorber but also tuned as a dual band for two discrete frequency bands, X- and Ku-Band.

Applications

  • Naval vessels
  • Outdoor metal structures
  • Positioning systems
